Strength and durability
Tests relating to strength and durability have been successful and a number of large units have been working since 1993 and a light weight plastics unit since 1982.
Hydrostatic Pressure
Concern regarding hydrostatic pressure has been expressed, even by engineers, the effects of hydrostatic pressure are quite insignificant compared with the strengths of the components of the FG unit. Fluidized Glazing (FG) is designed to work floor by floor and the working pressures are in fact negative NOT positive, (i.e. the Torricellian principle) leeks if any tend to be into the system rather than out of it.
Positive hydrostatic pressure is only experienced upon filling the system when the fluid is pumped into it and its maximum is quite insignificant producing forces that are only 3% of the bond strength force.
